What is insurance and why is it important?

Insurance is a financial instrument that allows you to protect yourself, your family and your property from unforeseen circumstances. The essence of insurance is that you regularly pay certain amounts of money, called premiums, to an insurance company. In the event of an insured event, be it an accident, illness or loss of property, the insurance company pays you compensation to help cover your expenses and minimise your financial losses.
Why is insurance important? Life is full of surprises and insurance gives you peace of mind. It helps you manage risks and avoid major financial losses in case of accidents or other unfavourable situations. For example, health insurance can cover medical expenses, car insurance can cover car repairs after an accident, and home insurance can cover rebuilding after natural disasters or fires.
Insurance also helps reduce the stress and anxiety associated with possible financial difficulties. It is an important element of financial security that allows you to focus on life rather than potential problems. Insurance is a smart way to protect yourself and your loved ones from unexpected blows of fate.
