Types of Phishing
Common Types of Phishing
1. Email Phishing
In this type of attack, scammers send emails containing attractive offers such as: "You have won a lottery," "You have received a gift," "Our services are free for you," or "A special loan offer just for you."
To claim the prize, gift, or loan, you are asked to click on a link and provide your personal or banking information.
2. SMS Phishing (Smishing)
Scammers send text messages or messages through social media and messaging platforms (such as Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.), pretending to represent well-known organizations or companies. They may offer you a gift, coupon, or discount and ask you to click on an attached link to claim it.
In most cases, these links are fraudulent and are designed to steal your personal and financial information.
3. Voice Phishing (Vishing)
In this type of phishing, scammers contact victims by phone or leave voice messages while pretending to be employees of a financial institution or its security department.
They may ask you to disclose your bank card number, CVV security code, one-time password (OTP) received via SMS, or other confidential information. They may also persuade you to install a specific application on your mobile phone.
How Can You Protect Yourself from Phishing?
If an unknown or suspicious caller asks for your personal information or a one-time SMS verification code, end the call immediately.
Do not click on suspicious links or visit suspicious websites.
Enter your usernames and passwords only on websites with a secure connection (https://).
Do not install suspicious applications received via email, social media, or other untrusted sources.
Always stay vigilant when using information and communication technologies and digital financial services!
