Safe deposit services
Safe deposit services are a type of banking service in which clients (individuals and legal entities — residents and non-residents) can rent safe deposit boxes under a contract to store valuables for a period from 1 day to 1 year or longer.
Safe deposit boxes:
are armored safe blocks with separate compartments of various sizes, located in secured bank vaults for storing valuable items;
intended for items a client does not want to keep at home due to the risk of theft, fire, or because they are not needed daily;
secured with two locks and two keys: one key is with the client, the other with the bank. Opening and closing the safe box is done only jointly with a bank employee and the client.
Safe deposit boxes are commonly used to store:
Important documents: securities, certificates, passports, property deeds, powers of attorney, and other documents;
Cash: national and foreign currency;
Valuables: jewelry, precious metals, and gemstones;
Electronic information: disks and flash drives with backup copies of important data;
Memorabilia: old photographs, collections of coins or stamps, and family heirlooms.
Advantages of storing valuables in safe deposit boxes:
Guarantee of safety: the bank is responsible for the integrity of the safe box and the safety of its contents. Items remain the property of the client, not the bank. Even if the bank’s license is revoked, the safe box cannot be opened without the client, and all valuables will be fully returned.
Protection against theft, fire, and natural disasters: safe deposit boxes are located in special vaults resistant to floods, earthquakes, and other natural hazards, with armored doors, security and fire alarm systems, and video surveillance.
Confidentiality: no one except the client knows what is stored in the box, not even bank employees. Separate rooms are provided for depositing, withdrawing, or inspecting contents.
Prohibited items in safe deposit boxes:
Clients are not allowed to store weapons and ammunition, poisons, chemicals, explosives, flammable materials, radioactive substances, drugs, or other items prohibited by the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan.
