WARNING: Beware of financial fraudsters!

WARNING: Beware of financial fraudsters!
The National Bank of Tajikistan advises citizens to exercise increased vigilance and caution when using payment cards, mobile banking applications, and online services. Fraudsters may impersonate employees of credit financial institutions, mobile operators, or “support centers” and attempt to obtain your confidential information through deception.
1. Never share confidential information.
Never provide the following information to anyone, even if they claim to be employees of a credit financial institution:
full card number and expiration date (MM/YY);
CVV/CVC code (3 digits on the back of the card);
PIN code;
one-time passwords (SMS/OTP);
login and password of the banking application, as well as security words.
If you are asked for this information, it is a sign of fraud.
2. Do not trust suspicious links or files.
Never open images, files, applications, or links received via messengers (Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.) from unknown persons or even from known contacts with suspicious messages;
install applications and updates only from official sources (Play Market / App Store);
if you are asked to install an application “to solve a problem” or grant “access,” be cautious — this may be used for remote control of your phone and theft of funds.
3. Know common signs of fraud.
Fraudsters often use the following pretexts:
“Your account will be blocked” or “a suspicious transaction has been detected — urgently provide the code”;
“Your loan / bonus / allowance has been approved — provide your details”;
“Your card needs to be replaced — provide the CVV or SMS code”;
“A transfer is being made in your name — provide the code to cancel it”;
“Click the link and enter your details” (these are usually fake websites).
Please note: employees of credit financial institutions and their relevant units never request CVV/CVC codes, PIN codes, or one-time passwords.
4. Simple safety rules.
Use a strong password for your banking application (letters, numbers, and symbols) and never share it;
keep screen lock enabled (PIN or biometric authentication);
activate SMS notifications for transactions;
if you lose your phone, immediately contact your credit financial institution to deactivate applications.
5. What should you do if you suspect fraud?
Immediately contact your credit financial institution through its contact center and:
temporarily block access to your payment card or banking application;
submit a request for transaction review, cancellation, or refund.
Change the password of your banking application.
If you installed a suspicious application, revoke its permissions and check your phone.
The National Bank of Tajikistan urges citizens not to panic when receiving suspicious calls or messages and never disclose one-time passwords (SMS/OTP), PIN codes, passwords, or card details — even if the person claims to be an employee of a financial institution or a mobile company.
Dear citizens! Do not follow unknown or suspicious links, do not open them, and do not install unfamiliar applications. For verification and assistance, contact only the official numbers and channels of credit financial institutions, and use their official websites and applications.
Vigilance is the best protection against fraud.
